DAY OF THE DEAD PROJECT
YEAR 9 AND YEAR 10 STUDENTS did DAY OF THE DEAD PROJECT which looks at a Mexican Folk Festival that celebrates the the passing of their ancestors once a year. Food, flowers and offerings are set aside at graves and specially made altars to welcome back the ancestors or lost relative or child. It is primarily a happy, festival occasions celebrating life. The students began the project by doing a contour drawing of the skull and then adding their own individual designs. Secondly they did a collage with just black and white card, building layers to create interest and utilizing the positive and negative space.
